Ask Elmer for help with your education.
Elmer lives at your local Amateur Radio Club. The March, 1971 issue of QST magazine coined the term “Elmer”. Elmer can be any Ham who is willing to assist individuals in learning about radio communications and electronics. If you desire help in acquiring a Amateur Radio License contact the Amateur Radio Club in your local area.
Technician class license
The Technician class license is the entry-level license and requires passing an exam on basic radio theory, regulations and operating practices. The license allows Technicians to use the Amateur Radio frequencies above 30 megahertz and some limited privileges on shortwave bands used for international communications. Learning Morse code is NOT required. Check the EDUCATION pull down menu for information on the FCC test requirements and preparation.
